Board Chair and members appointed by the Minister
Board members across the country have been appointed by Hon Dr Jonathan Coleman. Dr Coleman said that having the right people governing our DHBs is vital to ensuring New Zealanders around the country have access to the health services they need.
“The newly appointed DHB members and chairs have a wide range of skills and a breadth of experience, and will make a valuable contribution.” He also thanked outgoing board members for their dedication and service.
Wairarapa DHB welcomes new Chair, Sir Paul Collins. Martinborough’s Sir Paul was appointed a Knight Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit on the New Year Honours List last year for his service to sports administration. He has served on numerous boards in the sports sector, as well as serving on the boards of more than 50 companies around the world.
Leanne Southey remains as Deputy Chair, and the other three Ministry appointed members include former Mayor Adrienne Staples and current members, Ron Karaitiana and Jane Hopkirk. Nick Crozier was announced last month as our new board member elect, joining returning members, Derek Milne, Rick Long, Fiona Samuel, Liz Falkner and Alan Shirley.
The first meeting of the new board will take place on 20th December.
