On hearing from the DHB’s media statement that some remedial work is required to improve the seismic restraints at the hospital, MP Kieran McAnulty came to visit to see for himself.

“I’ve been impressed with the DHB’s response so far to news that some of the hospital’s buildings require remedial strengthening. And I was pleased to see the work gone in to ensure continued service to our community.”

“I want to let the people of Wairarapa know it is business as usual here,” he said.

Sharing a coffee with Adri Isbister, Chief Executive in the café, Kieran wanted to know more about what patients and visitors could expect.

Adri explained that, while there may be a bit of noise and disruption from the engineers as they assess the ceiling space, nothing is likely to change hospital services at this time.

“If there’s any change to that, we will keep the community up to date,” she promised.

“I am pleased with the DHB’s response to this issue,” Kieran noted, commenting on how proactive the DHB management is being.

Information flyers are available throughout the hospital for visitors and patients to read and take away, and the information screens in all waiting areas are displaying details about the seismic work.

You can watch Kieran’s chat over coffee with the CE on both the DHB and Kieran McAnulty MP facebook pages.
