For the remainder of this flu season, GPs and pharmacists who still have stock available will prioritise vaccinating those at greatest risk of influenza:
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 4 and under with serious respiratory illnesses
- People with severe asthma, heart disease, diabetes and other serious health conditions that make them more susceptible to influenza
- Those aged 65 and over.
If you don’t qualify for a free vaccination you may still be able to pay for one at selected pharmacies however demand is high and priority will be given to people with greater risk. It is recommended to call and check if supply of the flu vaccination is available and reserving your vaccination before visiting.
As well as vaccination, it's also important that all of us keep in mind other ways to be healthy during the flu season - washing hands, safe sneezing, and staying home if you're unwell are other ways we can reduce the spread of winter illnesses including flu.
