Andrew was nominated because he is "consistently amazing" and has never been spotted looking stressed at any time. All through the 2020 Covid response, and the logistical challenges of Oracle, he "remains happy, smiling, courteous and professional."

Andrew is known to diffuse anxiety and be kind, calm and reassuring in tense situations - and nothing is ever too much for him.

The Staff Recognition Awards are randomly drawn and this months nominees also included:

Di Sigvertson

Keren Williams

Philip Elmers

We also received a nomination for the whole of the Acute Services team.

Suffering a huge loss right on Christmas with the death of a much loved and well respected staff member, the team continued to deliver a professional caring and empathetic service to the people of the Wairarapa and visitors to the district.

"This is an exceptional nursing and medical team which has shown true professional behaviour, and has modelled the values of the DHB through a very sad time."

Though a team nomination is outside the scope of the awards, the Acutes Services team will receive a morning tea shout in recognition of their exceptional service during this very difficult time. A small token gesture of our thanks - and our thoughts remain with them all.

The WrDHB staff recognition awards recognise exceptional behaviour, initiative or service that goes "above and beyond" and models the organisational values.

The Recognition Awards are a tangible way to recognise some of the exceptional behaviours and service of staff that may otherwise fly under the radar.

Along with Andrew, all the winners and nominees from previous months have a second chance to win at the end of the year, this time for a randomly drawn weekend away.
