Ask your doctor, parents or caregiver if you had two doses of MMR as a child. If you didn’t, or you aren’t sure, get the MMR vaccination. It’s free and its the best way to stop you getting, and spreading, measles.

Measles spreads faster than almost any other disease on the planet. It can make you very sick and affect your health for the rest of your life. Some people can even die from measles.

Your parent, caregiver or GP may know if you’ve had your MMR as a child. If you’re not sure, play it safe and get immunised.

You can get your MMR vaccine free at many pharmacies, if you’re 16 or over. Just turn up, you don’t need an appointment or to bring anything with you. You’ll need to wait for 20 minutes after having the vaccination.

Know where to find reliable information about vaccination. Visit www.health.govt.nz/uptodate, ask your doctor, or call Healthline on 0800 611 116.
