Why?

A traveller from Sydney, who visited Wellington from Saturday 19 June until Monday 21 June, has tested positive for COVID-19 upon their return to Australia. It is most likely they contracted the virus in Sydney before they arrived in New Zealand.

What does Level 2 mean?

* If you’re sick, stay home. Do not go to work or school, and please do not visit any patients in hospital if you are unwell
* If you have cold, flu or COVID-19 symptoms, call your doctor or Healthline on 0800 358 5453 and get advice about being tested - don't just go into the clinic as you could share your illness.
* If you have been told to self-isolate you legally must do so immediately.
* We must keep a distance of 2 metres in public where we don't know the people around us, and 1 metre in most other places like workplaces, cafes, restaurants and gyms.
* We must legally must wear a face covering on public transport and on domestic flights & are are encouraged to wear face coverings in situations where physical distancing may not be possible.
* No more than 100 people are allowed at social gatherings; including weddings, birthdays, funerals and tangihanga.

Can I still visit patients?

Yes, we love visitors! But only if they are well.

Please do not visit anyone in hospital if you are sick. Under Level 2, we ask that only one visitor visits at a time, to maintain our distancing requirements. You will also be asked some screening questions at the door, just to make sure we keep you and everyone else safe.
