It's great to be at Alert Level 2 again - well done, team!
Now we just need to keep it up and aim to get to Level 1 just as soon as we can.

Here's what we need to do to get there, and what our hospital environment looks like now....

 

Alert Level 2 in the community:

  • You can reconnect with friends and family, socialise in groups, go shopping and travel domestically - no more 'bubbles'
  • Working from home is still encouraged
  • Businesses, schools, education providers and public facilities and recreation can all open with health measures in place
  • People can gather in groups of up to 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors
  • Hospitality businesses legally must keep groups of customers separated and seated
  • Keep 2 metres apart from people you do not know in public
  • Keep 1 metre apart from people in workplaces and cafes etc

You legally must wear a mask / face covering if you are aged 12 and over when:

  • using public transport
  • visiting a healthcare or aged care facility
  • inside shops, marketplaces, and public venues
  • visiting the public areas

You legally must wear a face covering if you work:

  • as a driver of a taxi or ride-share vehicle
  • at close-contact businesses, for example barbers, beauticians and hairdressers
  • in a public facing role at a hospitality venue, for example a cafe, restaurant, bar or nightclub
  • at retail businesses, such as supermarkets, shopping malls, indoor marketplaces, takeaway food stores
  • in public areas of organisations with customer service counters
  • at indoor public facilities

 

Alert Level 2 in our hospital:

We welcome visitors to our hospital, but visiting restrictions do apply. 
Visiting hours are 2pm - 8pm daily.

Family, whānau and friends of patients are an important part of their recovery and are welcome to visit them in hospital - but under Alert Level 2 we have some rules to follow:

Masks / face coverings

All visitors to the hospital must wear a mask or face covering, unless they are exempt. There will be masks provided but it is preferred you bring your own. 

Physical distancing

All visitors are expected to practice safe physical distancing. Keep a 2 metre distance from people you don't know. 

General housekeeping

Please respect a patient's need for rest and treatment. Be considerate of other patients in the ward and keep to visiting hours 2pm - 8pm (unless providing carer support)

Remember, our hospital and grounds are smokefree.

Visitors will be screened on arrival

You will be asked some basic health questions, and will need to let us know if you have been through a region of high alert, or have been self isolating. Please follow the directions of the screening staff. 

No one should ever visit anyone in hospital if they are sick

Visitors with acute respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough, sore throat, or fever) must not visit. If you are sick with flu like symptoms, please stay home and call Healthline 0800 358 5453 to book a Covid test. 

Anyone that is under self-isolation (due to close contact with a confirmed case or due to recent overseas travel) will not be permitted to visit.

Visitors are required to scan or sign in on arrival and provide your contact details

If you are using the government’s COVID-19 Tracer App, please ensure Bluetooth tracing is turned on.

There are limits on visiting in different areas of our hospital - exemptions can only be approved by the clinical lead of the department.

 
In high risk areas: ED/ HDU
A maximum of one visitor at a time will be allowed, for one visit per day.

For maternity services: 
One partner/birthing partner can accompany patients into the birthing suite.
A maximum of one visitor at a time will be allowed, for one visit per day.

In all other areas:
A maximum of two visitors may visit.

Visiting children:
Parents/caregivers can visit at any time, and both parents/caregivers can visit at the same time.

Outpatients and Radiology:
Only one person is to accompany a patient coming in for an outpatient appointment or ambulatory care - except for those patients requiring extra support - see below.

Children who attend an outpatient appointment with the parent or sibling whose appointment it is are permitted if there are no alternatives to childcare available.

For people with disabilities, or those requiring extra support:
Exemptions are made for people with disabilities who are in hospital or have to attend an outpatient appointment where they need a support person to assist them - for example a sign language interpreter, support person for someone with a learning disability, or someone to assist with mobility. These support people can attend with that patient in addition to their permitted visitor/s.
