If you need medical care, we're always here!
However it is important to remember that ED is just for Emergencies.
If you come into ED and you are not urgent, you will wait. It can be a long time.
Our Emergency Department prioritises people that need emergency care. Non urgent people will not be seen until all urgent people receive care. Our ED is not a first in, first served service.
People NOT needing urgent care can be served more appropriately at a medical centre, pharmacy, or by calling Healthline 0800 611 116 or Covid Healthline 0800 358 5453.
If you are sick with flu like symptoms, stay home and call Healthline for advice on 0800 358 5453. You may need a Covid-19 test and you can get that locally HERE. Follow all the instructions you are given and ask, if you are not sure.
Phoning your GP first to discuss your health needs is really important. A lot can be achieved in a phone call and you will get some advice as to how you are best to get the care you need.
If you do need urgent care, do not hesitate. Come to ED or phone 111.
If you have a cough, fever or difficulty breathing you will be asked to put on a mask and be seen in a separate area when you get to the hospital.
