A great reflection received yesterday from our awesome Operations Manager at the Covid-19 Vaccination clinic.
Super leadership in trying times.

"It was my great privilege today to support a young man into our 5-11 year old paediatric vaccination clinic.

This chap experiences some personal challenges and needed a lot of support, but the aroha that surrounded him from his mum and from the team that cleared his space, walked the stairs with him as he doesn’t like the lift, held his hand and helped him to manage his anxiety whilst receiving his vaccination, was incredibly heart-warming to watch.

He was really determined to have it despite his fears and was so happy he managed it when complete, it makes a day worth being at work for to see that.

As I have witnessed many times, our team at the Departmental Building work hard to create comfort and ease for those that need it due to disability, other health issues, anxiety or most often, from the stress of being in the world during this pandemic. As individuals and as a team, this group have experienced smiles, aroha, gratitude, warmth, uplift for our wairua from our customers and we would like to express our gratitude to all of you that have been able to join in with the awesome Kiwi spirit of knowing that we are all in this together.

We know we don’t always get things right, it would be naïve to think that we will. However we try hard to hear you when you let us know what we could do better and value all the feedback we receive, even if it takes us a little while to get to it as we are often extremely busy.

Just remember, we are here to serve and help in any way we can and a little patience goes a really long way.

So to our community, with much aroha as we experience another change in the journey that has been COVID over the past two years, Kia Kaha, Kia Maia, Kia Manawanui

And to the teams that work for the DHB, Tekau Ma Iwa, and across the Pharmacies and GP surgeries around the Wairarapa that are  supporting the vaccination of our whanau against COVID, an extremely big thank you."
