Wairarapa District Health Board has detailed plans in place to ensure we continue to provide the best possible care for you and your baby while the midwives strike.

Wairarapa DHB has had notice of strike action by members of the midwives' union, the Midwifery Employee Representation and Advisory Service (MERAS).

All district health boards in New Zealand have had this notice.

This means some midwives working for Wairarapa DHB may be on strike each day, sometimes twice a day, for two hours at a time. Strikes are scheduled daily from 22nd November to 5th December, inclusive.

If you are under the care of a midwife employed by the DHB, or are due to give birth during this time, you will continue to receive the best care and support available at all times.

Your safety and our quality of care is our priority. If you have any questions, please contact your midwife or call the Clinical Midwife Manager at the hospital on 06 946 9800 x 4111.

We will be regularly updating our community on this website a
nd on Facebook.
